NOVAE TERRAE
From this page the complete run of NOVAE TERRAE, the UK's first fanzine, is now available to everyone for the first time ever. Getting these issues online was a group effort and apart from myself the team responsible for OCRing/copytyping each issue were: Joe Patrizio (6, 10, 21, 22, 24, 25, 28), Jim Linwood (7, 13, 14, 19, 20, 29), Keith Freeman (8, 11, 26), Doug Bell (12, 23), and Mark Plummer (15). I'd also like to acknowledge the contributions of John Davey, Andy Sawyer, and particularly Alistair Durie, who supplied scans/xeroxes of issues I was missing. My thanks to one and all. What with bleed-through from the inside page and often uneven duplication quality, it was necessary to do a restoration job on most covers that feature more than simple type. All those drawn by Harry Turner (#21-25, #27-29, and NEW WORLDS #1-4) were actually reworked/restored by Harry himself some years ago and copies of these were supplied by his son Philip who maintains a website devoted to Harry's life and works. Philip also supplied traces done by Harry of the Frank Dobby covers, and these have been used here. All other restoration work was done by me. I only have photocopies of issues 2,3 & 6, and the covers of these have so much 'dirt' that the simplest thing to do was to trace them and then scan the traces. The remaining covers were processed in Paint Shop Pro, with major 'dirt' being painted out. While the page count varied, issues were all half-foolscap format - ie. 6½" x 8" (165mm x 203mm). Most issues were stapled together but several were stitched, presumably using a sewing machine. ....Rob Hansen.
